Our Story

A note from our founder

For years, my period dictated what I could wear, where I could sit, and how freely I could move. Pads were uncomfortable, tampons felt invasive, and the constant fear of leaks turned ordinary days — school, sport, sleep — into something I had to plan around.

I started Yala because I knew I wasn't the only one. I wanted underwear that just worked — soft, secure, and so comfortable you could forget you were on your period at all.

That's what we built. And it's why Yala exists today.

Why Yala

We believe a period shouldn't be something women have to hide, manage, or apologise for. Yet most period products on the market today were designed decades ago, often with little regard for comfort, health, or the planet.

Yala was created to change that. Everything we make is built around three principles:

Our underwear is made from soft bamboo viscose, designed to feel like nothing at all. No bulk, no rustling, no shifting pads. Just underwear — that happens to keep you completely protected. Sleep through the night on white sheets without worry. Move, train, and live without thinking about leaks.

Conventional pads and tampons can contain materials and chemicals women would rather not have in contact with their body — month after month, year after year. Yala is reusable, breathable, and made from naturally antibacterial bamboo. A small change with a meaningful difference.
